What services do you offer?
Professional sewing and alterations, including clothing alterations, custom tailoring and repairs. We also teach sewing, knitting and crochet, and we sell fabrics and haberdashery.

Alterations and tailoring

How do I book an appointment for alterations?
Use our contact form or call 01242 321264. Walk-ins are welcome, but an appointment means availability and priority service.

What types of garments do you work on?
A wide variety, including dresses, suits, trousers, skirts, jackets and occasion wear. If you have something specific, get in touch and we will confirm we can help.

How long do alterations take?
It depends on the work. Simple jobs can take a few days, more intricate ones longer. We give you an estimated date when you bring your item in.

Do you offer emergency or same-day alterations?
Sometimes we can offer a rush service when possible. Please call ahead to confirm. An express fee applies.

What if I am not sure what alterations I need?
We are happy to talk it through at your fitting and recommend what will work best.

Curtains

Do you make custom curtains?
Yes, made to your specifications: fabric, style and measurements. Tell us what you need and we will bring your vision to life.

What fabric should I choose?
It depends on your style, the room's light and your privacy needs. We offer cotton, linen, velvet and blackout options, and we will guide you on the best choice for each room.

Do you provide fabric samples?
Yes. Visit us to see and feel the collection, or ask for specific samples.

How do I measure my windows?
We can guide you through it, or provide a professional measuring service for precise results.

Can you alter my existing curtains?
Absolutely. We adjust length, width or lining, or restyle them entirely. Bring them in and we will talk through the options.

What curtain alterations do you offer?
Hemming or shortening, adding or changing lining, adjusting pleats or gathers, and resizing to fit different windows.

How long does it take to make or alter curtains?
Usually 1 to 3 weeks, depending on complexity and fabric availability, and a little longer in busy periods. We estimate the time once we know your requirements.

Do you provide installation?
Yes, we can arrange fitting so your curtains hang properly. Just ask when you order.

Can I bring my own fabric?
Yes. We will check it is suitable for the style and dimensions you want.

What does it cost?
It varies with the alteration, fabric and style. We offer a free initial consultation and an estimate.

Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. We take pride in our workmanship, and if there is any issue with the craftsmanship we will put it right within a set period after completion.

Classes and tuition

What classes do you offer?
Sewing, knitting and crochet for beginners, intermediate and advanced, one-to-one or in small groups for personal guidance.

How do I sign up?
Book through our classes page. Contact us if you would like help choosing the right level.

Do you provide materials?
For some classes, yes. For others you buy what you need, and you can get materials, tools and fabric in our shop. We tell you exactly what is needed when you sign up.

Can I book private tuition?
Yes, tailored to your needs and level. Contact us for availability and pricing.

Fabrics and haberdashery

What fabrics do you sell?
A wide variety, including cotton, linen, wool and specialty fabrics. Visit the shop to see the full selection.

Do you sell notions and tools?
Yes: needles, threads, buttons, zips, scissors and more.

Can I order something specific?
Let us know. We may be able to order it in or suggest something similar in stock.

Payment and policies

What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, credit and debit cards, and mobile payments. Class fees may be payable upfront to secure your place.

Do you offer refunds on custom work or classes?
Custom work is made specifically for you, so refunds are generally not available. For classes, cancellations made 24 hours in advance may be eligible for a reschedule. Please see our full cancellation policy.
